France passport & ID photo.
Know the requirements.
French passport and identity-card photos must follow official sizing and capture requirements. A home-edited preview does not replace an approved photo service.

Recency and pose
Use a photo less than six months old. Keep your head straight, face the camera, and maintain a neutral expression with your mouth closed and eyes visible.
Lighting and visibility
Avoid shadows and over- or underexposure. Keep your face unobstructed. Glasses are optional; if worn, they must not obscure the eyes or produce reflections.
Passport and national identity card
The official photo standards apply to both documents. Check the official photographer and booth locator before obtaining your submission photo.

A preview is not an approval. Final acceptance is decided by the issuing authority.
